Step aside Michaele and Tareq Salahi, we could be looking at the biggest gatecrashing scandal in Oscars history, or someone was wronged and will be getting paid!
Oscar night was triumphant for Sandra Bullock, but actor Michael Avmen never got to see it.
Avmen claims he was supposed to pickup tickets at the event, which is not unusual. However, when he arrived at the Kodak Theater, no tickets could be found. Here's where it gets ugly.
According to Avmen, instead of being shooed away, he and his wife were taken into custody by Oscars security and held against their will for 6 hours!!!!! Then, they were hauled away by the coppers, who released the couple without charging them with any crimes.
Now, Avmen and his wife are suing the Academy for $50 Million.
This episode raises so many questions, and I can't wait to watch the trial on Court TV.
First, no offense to Avmen, but why did he think he had tickets to the Oscars? If someone promised the tickets, who was it? Tickets to the Oscars are a hot hot hot item, and they usually go to nominees, former winners, Academy voters, powerful producers, agents with connections, etc. Avmen is none of these.
Second, if Avmen was mistakenly led to believe he had tickets, or was crashing in hopes of slipping through, where does security get off holding him for 6 hours? What happened? Who said what? Did Avmen freak out? Did the security guard pull a power play and try to prove a point?
There seems to be more to the story, so stay tuned.
