As reported by Sandy Cohen of the Associated Press, the script for the third Ghostbusters movie has been written, according to writer/director/producer Ivan Reitman.
Let's keep our heads about us.
This doesn't mean Bill Murray has read it and approved.
It doesn't mean a studio has signed on and put up the money to pay for it.
This doesn't mean a date to start filming has been set.
It just means Reitman has a script he likes, and announced it while promoting his latest movie, No Strings Attached with Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman.
Call me skeptical. Call me a naysayer. Call me Mr. Negative. I'll believe it when I see it.
After all of the rumors and ideas that have been floated around, and Murray's unpredictable nature, especially since he doesn't need to make this movie, I am not ready to believe anymore.
Ghostbusters 3 only gets made if Murray wants to do it. Dan Aykroyd is up for anything if he is willing to make Yogi Bear, and Harold Ramis is available. Very available.
But, what all of the fans want to see is Bill Murray, and that's not guaranteed.
He doesn't need the money, so Reitman can throw any amount he wants at Murray, but it won't make a difference. It has to be a fun story and something that interests the mercurial actor. What is original and exciting enough about a threequal to get Murray on board?
