First, the movie set the record for biggest midnight haul with $43.5 million, defeating Twilight: Eclipse's $30 million midnight box office take last year.
Then, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 set the record for biggest opening day EVER with a box office take of $92.1 million. It put a spell on the former record holder, Twilight: New Moon, which came in with $72.7 million on its opening day.
Before you start to think those numbers are inflated by 3D ticket sales, Box Office Mojo is reporting the $92.1 million was driven by the highest ever attendance on an opening day. Even without the 3D prices, or slightly lower prices from years past, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 still would be #1.
At this pace, the movie could set the record for biggest opening weekend ever, passing The Dark Knight's $158.4. Box Office Mojo says our favorite wizard could bring in $185 million this weekend, and that's just the USA take!!!!! Internationally, Potter also is setting records.
Do you think anyone at Warner Brothers is dialing J.K. Rowling right now and begging for another book and movie?
