D.A Wallach is lead singer of the critically acclaimed duo Chester French. The band made waves in the music world after releasing their widely popular star studded mix-tape called Jacques Jams, Vol 1: Endurance featuring appearances by Solange Knowles, Janelle Monae, Diddy, Jadakiss, Pharrell Williams, Jermaine Dupri to name a few. Soon after they released their debut album Love the Future in April 2009. I got a chance to ask Mr. Wallach a few questions as he and Max Drummey record their highly anticipated next album.
How did you and your band mate Maxwell come up with the name Chester French?
We named ourselves after the American sculptor Daniel Chester
French.
You released a mix-tape called Jacques Jams, Vol 1: Endurance, which gained huge popularity on the Internet. What inspired you guys to make a mix-tape? Are they any plans for a volume two?
We are looking-into making another one. DJ Clinton Sparks urged us
to do the first one, and we're glad that he did!
You have a fantastic blog where you post a lot of political and social based content. What are some issues you feel people aren't informed enough about?
I'm particularly interested in three issues:
1) Fixing America's broken public education system.
2) Eliminating easily preventable deaths around the World.
3) Reforming America's political system so that we can rebuild a
thriving Democracy and fix the urgent problems we face as a society. One of the
movements in this field that I especially admire is Lawrence Lessig's Fix

Is there another album or tour in the works?
Yes and yes.
What's an average day like for you?
Every day is its own unique beast, but in the past six months
we've spent a lot of time writing and recording our new album.
What are you currently listening to?
Of Montreal, The Arcade Fire, Kool and The Gang, Michael Jackson,
Neil Young.
Any advice for young musicians out there?
Just
to work on the craft and to study the great music that others have made
already.
