Top Model Musings: The Whitney Factor
With Diana out of the running after last week's transgender shoot, we're down to just one plus-size model left in the Top Model house, Whitney. The sweet-faced Dartmouth student seems to be a contender this season, even though some of the judges aren't huge fans of her photographs.
We're curious: are you guys big Whitney fans? We're undecided. One minute she wins us over with her big hugs and her irresistible smile, and the next she kind of annoys us with her judgmental comments about Natasha's home life (okay, the situation is a little weird, but Natasha and her hubby seem to love each other!). We definitely like her body confidence, but we're still not sure if her photos could top Brittany's or Jaslene's.
But it doesn't matter what we think -- what matters in this competition is the judges' final decision. Most of the judges keep saying Whit doesn't look like a model, but she's not taking that lying down!
So far, no matter what naysayer Nigel might argue, Tyra is completely, 150% sold on this girl. She loves how Whitney is a strong woman with smarts (even if she doesn't win Top Model, she's probably got it made with her Ivy League education). And she loves that she's a plus-sized model in a sea of way-skinny girls. But does Whitney have what it takes to win? And is it even fair to pit a plus-sized model against girls as stick-thin as Jaslene and Sarah?
What do you think? Does Whitney have the potential to make it to the final three? Do you like her, or are you still making up your mind? Is Tyra wildly biased, or is it the other judges who have yet to see the Whitney light?

My girlfriend watches this show all the time and I have got to say this is probably the only girl where I could say "wow she is really pretty". I'm sure they are all great models, but even as a guy I have to say its nice to see a model that looks just like a regular pretty girl instead of your run-of-the-mill stick thin figure. Whitney is the reason I watch this show on wednesdays.

I love Whitney! Tyra knew she was never going to let a plus size model be the winner. So,why even bring them on? She is always talking about them losing that spark. Of course any human would when you are constantly putting them down. Maybe Renee is right, that there wont be a plus model on seventeen magazine! I personally dont feel that way but Tyra sure is making her words true. Tyra is always talking about she has a problem with eating disorders but what signal is she reallys sending out?

I love Whitney. She is beautiful, and full of life. We need women like her, and Tocorra to be front runners. Yeah, we got a lot more jelly, but we know how to work it. But, I believe she will go far.

It has nothing to do with that she is plus-sized it's the fact that she takes horrible pictures! She needs to go home! Sarah might have posed alot, but she was a much better model then Whitney. She's only still on top model because tyra is being weird this season. Whitney is going to be gone next, and Sarah could've still been in the competition!

OMG! Whitney is gorgeous!
She is going to go places, even if she doesn't win. She has the potential, looks, and attitude to win it all.Whitney makes plus-sized girls look beautiful, which they are, and is an inspiration to me. Don't give up, Whitney, because you've got it in you!

I think Whitney has what it takes & she's a nice girl. Whether she wins or not, her life is going to be great. Yea, she's a big girl but so what? We need more plus-sized models in the world. I'm hoping either Whitney or Jael win this cycle.(Send Renee home already!)

I think Whitney represents what the model world needs. A breath of fresh air and a hearty meal. All of the models you see now are size triple 0 and on drugs or getting sued for beating up your assistant. It's like hello reality check!! And to Tyra, I know you protray yourself as a lover and all-around geniune but, get a grip. Everything you have been doing lately on your talk show and on ANTM is just a big publicity stunt. So how can we trust a big phony to judge one of the most influential and moving models on this show since its beginning?

i do believe that Whitney has what it takes to be America' next top model.So haters don't hate on her because she is big.i believe that she is the only true model there. hope she wins

I like Whitney, but if she had more of a spunk like Tocorra, then she could go probably go far. Not sure what her outcome will be, but i do like her; I wish her well.
