One Tree Hill Scoop: Chad Endorses K-Fed!

Sounds like Chad Michael Murray's a fan of Kevin Federline. People.com reports that the two have had friendly relations on the set of One Tree Hill -- hey, K-Fed even joined Chad's 26th birthday celebration! Chad calls him a "nice guy," and he's not the only one. The article features other pro-K-Fed testimonials.

But the most interesting part of the article's in the final sentence:

"The work will be helpful for the slacker-turned-actor who, according to documents released Thursday, 'has no net income after business expenses.'"

Ouch. No income? Let's hope OTH's paychecks get K-Fed back on track.

Seriously, what do you think? When we first reported the news, many of you freaked out. Does Chad's endorsement of K-Fed make you feel any better about his role on the show? Or are you still firmly in the anti-K-Fed camp?

Gossip Girl: The Next Hot Music Show?

Will Gossip Girl's music be a hot commodity?

We’ve heard a lot of talk about how Gossip Girl is The O.C. Version 2.0 – after all, it’s produced by Josh Schwartz, it concerns fabulously wealthy teens and it makes fashionistas’ hearts go pitter-pat. Now Billboard magazine says the show is poised to take over as the show for music.

It helps that Gossip Girl’s music supervisor is Alexandra Patsavas of Chop Shop Music, who made The O.C. a great show for music fans. She’s got the same goal in mind for the new show:

"What 'The O.C.' did for indie rock, we'd like 'Gossip Girl' to do for pop," she tells Billboard. "I'm relying on old favorites while exploring current pop music. And since the show revolves primarily around high school students in New York, we'll definitely be using some New York-based bands. But these kids listen to the radio, too, so there will be that music, too."

What kind of acts can you expect? Billboard reports that the pilot episode spotlights music by Rihanna, the Mooney Suzuki, Hanson, Amy Winehouse, Angels & Airwaves and others.

Hanson? Really? Well, we loved the music of The O.C., so we’re going to trust that Patsavas knows what she’s doing.

What sort of music are you hoping to hear on Gossip Girl? Will anything equal The O.C. when it came to integrating music into a show, or do you think that aspect was over-hyped?

Supernatural News: Sera Gamble Spills

While we're waiting for our Demonic Deal to get approval from the higher-ups (or maybe the lower-downs), we’ve been catching up on our Supernatural news. We just stumbled across a fabulous interview with one of our favorite Supernatural writers, Sera Gamble. Everything she says just makes us all the more excited for season three.

Why? There's going to be a Bobby story! He may have lost the Big Bad Bracket, but Bobby rules our hearts, so we're thrilled we're going to learn a bit more about Bobby's backstory. "I for one really want to know where Bobby came from, why he's a hunter," Sera tells Eclipse magazine. "I mean, does the guy have a family? How'd he meet John? Was he born wearing a trucker cap?"

All valid questions, and all things we can't wait to see answered.

More dish: Sera says we're finally, finally going to get some insight into Dean's necklace -- "We've been talking about Dean's amulet. As of now we haven't decided exactly when, but we intend to use it in a future episode."

Finally, she reassures fans (again, some more) about Ruby and Bela: "Sam and Dean are the two main characters of the show," Gamble she says. "That's how we approach every single episode."

But Sera says she gets the fan angst: "I have to say, I know fans are really worried about the new characters, and I do get where they're coming from," she says. "I've watched shows and been way annoyed by new characters. But I think people are going to dig Ruby and Bela more than they expect to. At least I hope so, because we've been having lots of fun writing them…I'm hoping that our audience will appreciate the new elements Bela and Ruby bring into the boys' stories. It's good stuff. I believe they represent a deepening and an expansion of the world we're already in. They support the story we're telling this season, rather than distracting from it. Even though they're hot chicks."

OK, Sera, we're staying cautiously optimistic about the new characters here at CW Source Central. But don't mess it up, ok?

There's even more juicy details and things to chew over in the article. Take a look!

Are you as excited as we are by the prospect of a Bobby backstory episode? Do you have theories about Dean's amulet? Do you refuse to be reassured about Bela and Ruby? Are you counting the days until the Season 2 DVD comes out, and the new season begins? Let us know in the comments!

Exclusive: Part Two of Our Chat with One Tree Hill's Production Designer, Alan Hook

Here’s part two of our three-part interview with Alan Hook, One Tree Hill’s production designer. You can read part one here, and check back next week for part three.

CW Source: What are some challenges you’ve faced over the years creating OTH sets?

AH: In general, the pace of television production makes everything move at a breakneck speed. We’re filming a new episode every eight days. We’ll get a script, and if we’re lucky we’ll get it eight days before it starts shooting. In those eight days, we have to come up with everything: we design it, build it, and get it up in time.

There was one sort of off-the-wall prop that Mark had written. Last year, it was a mug that looked like Scary Spice or Posh Spice – supposed to be an old mug from years ago that Lucas had given Peyton. Mark had seen something like that on Ebay. We tried to track it down, and of course, it didn’t exist anymore. We ended up having a sculptor sculpt this mug. They got into a fight with it – threw it at each other – so we had to do that as well.

Everybody that’s here really is good at what we do. We’re able to really handle most anything that Mark throws at us. It’s sort of analogous to the train running down the tracks is the filming company, and we’re laying down the track right in front of them. The train barely stops, and we’re right in front.

CW Source: Tell us about the Honey Grove, TX episode. It looked like you were filming right in the high school, the parking lot, and the hotel. What does your job entail when the sets are already built?

AH: We did go out there and film that in their town square. We built the gazebo. That sign that was there when Mouth was sort of talking to it -- we scouted it out with Mark. We wondered, “What do we do with this big sign?”

We were sort of goofing around, talking about the movie LA Story, when Steve Martin talks to the sign, and then Mark said, “That kind of works, actually. Let’s use it.” When you go on location, it sparks things that you might not have ever thought of.

The gym that we used for the prom really was that high school gym. We took an army of people out there and spent four days dressing their gym -- hanging fabrics, lights, and getting it ready for the prom.

The bus stuff was out on a little road, just outside of town. They tried to really shoot there as much as possible. The whole town came out to watch while we were filming.

CW Source: What other challenges have you faced?

AH: Last year, [it was] the basement. Derek had Peyton tied up in the basement. In Wilmington, NC, the houses don’t have basements. They’re so close to the coast, they would flood.

That was a fairly large and detailed set. We had a little more than eight days to make it.

CW Source: So you had to build that whole basement for just those few scenes.

AH: Our joke is that we’re in charge of everything that’s out of focus. We have a lot of detail in the set, but you don’t see it all the time. We go into close-ups – everything behind them is blurry.

One of the things you try to do with the look of the show is not make anything look too jarring/out-of-place – so when they edit it together, it looks cohesive. We try to keep our color palettes all sort of cohesive, so no matter how they cut it together, it all works.

CW Source: What happens to sets like the basement or the store Brooke visited? Do they get destroyed?

AH: A lot of times we’ll repaint them or use them as something else. We seem to be in a lot of hotel rooms. People keep going to different hotel rooms all the time. We re-wallpaper, change curtains, and play it again as a different hotel room. That’s the kind of thing where we’ll recycle. But sometimes a set is too distinctive; you can’t use it again. But for the most part, when it’s done, it goes in the trash.

A lot of the set dressing and prop materials, we keep. We never get rid of any of that – we can reuse it. They even auction some of that stuff off for charity – iconic images, props, they’ll get rid of that way. Come the end of the run, however many years this show goes, there will be a huge sale of every piece of costume, they’ll sell it off.

CW Source: Is that typical, auctioning stuff from the show off for charity?

AH: Yes. I had done Dawson’s Creek. They put a lot of that stuff on eBay and sold off a lot of the memorable pieces. And even weird things like a window of Joey’s dorm room, people bought. Things you’d think no one would ever want. People will buy that stuff. They’re attached to the show, they’re attached to the character, and they get a little piece of it then.

CW Source: What do you mean by the color palette of the show?

AH: Brooke has a definite style that we try to incorporate into her set. Because she’s a fashion designer and that’s her passion, we try to keep that in mind. She might have a little more refined style, but also a little more out there kind of style. We use purples, silvers for her colors.

Lucas is a little more conservative, actually. Because he was living at home before, we balanced that between what his room would be and what his parents would have.

Rachel, when we did her last year, she was sort of over-the-top.

CW Source: I bet that was fun.

AH: There was a lot of crazy stuff on her set, since she’s a wild child.

Check back next week for the final installment, including scoop on how they filmed the Season Three finale car crash and more!

The Game's Tia Mowry to Head Overseas?

Tia MowryThe gossip from across the pond is that Tia Mowry will be guest-starring on seminal British soap EastEnders this year, alongside her twin sister Tamera. Tia, star of The Game, and Tamera will play twins – shocker! – who date different blokes on the street. As the guys can’t tell the sisters apart, hilarity ensues.

Sounds familiar, doesn't it? Come on, fess up -- who out there watched Sister, Sister back in the '90s? We know you're out there...

K-Fed's Other Ex To Star On Everybody Hates Chris

The powers-that-be at The CW apparently have a sense of humor. Not only is Kevin Federline guest-starring on One Tree Hill (and boy, did you all have something to say about that!), K-Fed’s ex is showing up on Everybody Hates Chris. No, not Britney – Shar Jackson, from Moesha and (more recently) The Ex-Wives Club. You may also remember her as the woman K-Fed left for Britney, despite his two kids with her. How’d that work out for you, K-Fed?

Shar will be showing up as a young mother whose daughter uses Tanya as a cover for all sort so of illicit activity – sneaking into R-rated movies and even (gasp!) seeing boys. As you can imagine, Rochelle has something to say about this.

"I am having a blast," Shar told People magazine. "The cast is absolutely amazing."

We’re just glad the two shows film on different coasts. Can you imagine the two of them meeting between sets? Awkward!

Demons Attack The Source (Or, What's Really Up With the Missing Jared Footage)

OK, so you know how we said we'd have cool footage of Jared from the Teen Choice Awards? Yeah, about that....

So here's what happened: We did everything in our power to get to Jared before, during and after the awards. We didn't get the exclusive interview we hoped for (apparently we didn't sacrifice a chicken to the correct God of PR Flunkies), but we figured hey, at least we'd have the stuff from the press tent.

Yeah, about that....

Something happened to our equipment. The sound cut out, and we just got a hissing voice saying "For access to Jared, please deposit another soul." Again, we were thwarted.

But fear not! We're currently making a deal with the Crossroads Demon to make it up to you. We can't give you details yet -- after all, our gutter souls might not be appetizing to the Big Bad Demon in charge -- but we're working on something highly cool. It'll be worth the wait, we promise.

So please don't kill us, Supernatural fans. Put away those shotguns and crossbows. Trust us: We're more useful to you alive.

From The Press Tent: Sophia Bush

Sophia was just in here! When asked what about her would surprise us, she said that instead of having a tiny dog, she has a French mastiff and a one-eyed pit bull -- "my kids." And the dogs come to work with her wherever she goes!

Sophia said she didn't want to comment on K-Fed joining the show, since she's never met him (she must be so, so sick of that question already. But come on -- how could we not ask?) She was happy to chat about the dogs, though!

Lots more from Sophia tomorrow, including Jason C.'s exclusive interview with her!

From The Press Tent: Lauren Conrad and Audrina From The Hills

Lauren Conrad and Audrina from The Hills came in for a few minutes. Cute moment:

Press: Lauren, Audrina, are you girls dating anyone?

Audrina: Yes, I'm dating someone. (doesn't elaborate)

LC: I'm not dating anyONE... (giggles)

They wouldn't reveal anything more; they just told us to watch The Hills and find out.

But the highlight? The Mac guy (Justin Long) just came in and grabbed a seat right next to us. And Seth Rogen came and crashed on the floor in front of us! Just as LC and Audrina were about to be ushered off, Justin called out, "If you could murder one person, who would it be?" ha!

LC didn't answer, but instead ran over to introduce herself to the guys. Hmm... wonder what she would have answered!

From The Press Tent: Jessica Alba and Dane Cook

Poor Dane Cook! Here's a surefire way to be all but ignored: show up in the press tent with a glowing Jessica Alba by your side. The press (including us, we must admit), was firing questions at Jessica, while Dane stood patiently until Jessica asked us to turn the questions toward him.

But first, Jessica. Surprisingly, no one dared ask about her personal life. But we did get a few more details about the Ross she mentioned when she accepted her award for Choice Hottie -- did you guys catch that?

Then, just as we ran out of time, everyone seemed to notice Dane, and he managed to get in one very inappropriate (but hilarious) comment for J-14 about being well-endowed before being ushered out by the crew. Check back tomorrow for pics and video of the whole interview!
