Smallville: Freaky Thursday

Last night's Smallville episode should have pleased Chlois and Clois fans alike. Wish granting, body-swapping and power removal, and a light-hearted comical feel meant this episode really had something for everyone.

Clark skips Chloe's birthday party because he's "on assignment " Then Lois leaves the party to pursue a lead of her own, leaving Chloe and Oliver Queen. Chloe begins waxing nostalgic on who she used to be and when everything started to change. It was great to walk down memory lane with Chloe and be reminded of the girl we all fell for so long ago.

Enter Zatanna, daughter of the late Givioni "John" Zatara, a magician who gave his life to save Zatanna. She approaches Oliver and mentions granting him a wish, but he has to leave on business and directs Zatanna to Chloe, saying that she deserved a wish to be fulfilled. Now, you 'd lthink that since, just last week, Jimmy said that marrying Chloe was the biggest mistake of his life, you'd think her thoughts would be a little more oriented towards fixing this problem. However, when told to make a wish, Chloe sees an image of her cousin, Lois Lane, and BAM! The next morning, Chloe looks and talks like Lois.

Apparently, the life of Lois Lane is a sweet one, and Chloe begins to revel in the interns waiting on her hand and foot. When Clark and Chlois ask Zatanna to reverse the "curse" on Chloe, she tells them that she gives people what they want, and that the wish would wear off as soon as Chloe no longer wanted it. She ends up granting Clark a wish as well: When Clark and Chlois see a mugging take place, Chlois looks to Clark to do something and he calls 9-1-1. This leads us into a bit of hilarity as Chlois attempts to convince Clark of his Kryptonian heritage and super powers (obviously, his wish was for a life of normalcy). He comes up with logical explanations for his super hearing and breaking a door handle.

Meanwhile, Zatanna and Green Arrow make a deal for him to steal the Book of Zatara from a Luthercorp warehouse. Upon accomplishing this task, Green Arrow realizes the dark secret of the book and tries to destroy it by throwing it in a fire. Before he is able to do this, Zatanna appears and magically chains Green Arrow to a post while she walks off with the book.

She takes the book to the top of the Daily Planet and recites the spell to resurrect her father. With Clark finally realizing who he is, the spell on both he and Chloe is broken and he is able to approach Zatanna before the portal spell comes to fruition. The only catch is that Chloe arrives and gets zapped by the spell. We learn that to resurrrect her father, Zatanna was going to forfeit her life (now Chloe's). Clark makes her realize that her father wanted her to live and would not want her sacrificing her life to bring him back.

At the end, Zatanna apologizes to Oliver for chaining him up and Clark and Chloe have a heart-to-heart about relationships. She tells him to not be scared about trying new things, and he tells her to not give up on things. Just when you think she will seek out Jimmy and try to resolve their differences, Chloe logs on to the computers in the Isis building and says, "Watchtower, online. Over." Whee! Watchtower!

We have to know what you thought of this one! You've requested more Justice League. Done. You've yearned for more Clois. Done. You've even wanted more Chlois. It's like an early Christmas for Smallville fans. So, tell us your thoughts on how Season 8 is shaping up!

loved WATCHTOWER IS ONLINE. as a chloe fan i would have loved her as a reporter more than lois but whatever,i think this is cooler than just writing articles about it, but actively doing something about it!!!! it made me really happy i mean being in the middle of the justice legue is big. dont really care for lois as she is developed off screen and lightswitched a lot would like her more if she stopped obsessing over clark. as for clark i thought the whole normal thing was a bit redunant... im mad at clark he missed chloes party but talked to lois 5 TIMES!:(

this episode was a VERY good example of erica durance as an awful actress. you need acting lessons, erica. badly.

what were you (erica) trying to do? convince me that chloe became "you"? really? if so, how so? i cringed every time you were on camera.

I love Lois! Go Lois!

I’m not the biggest Chloe fan (not to say I don’t like her character because I do!)… but after being a fan of the show since the series first began, I think the path that Chloe has taken is perfectly suited to her character. Yes, it seemed to be that from the very beginning, she was destined to be a reporter, whether that be for the daily planet or whatever other newspaper … but face it people! THINGS CHANGE. Just because a person seems totally fitted to a particular role (in this case, Chloe as a reporter), circumstances change, and some people may eventually find that they are in fact destined for greater things.

I thought Chloe as the new 'Watch tower' is PERFECTLY suited for her, and after hex, it is clearly evident that Chloe is indeed destined for 'greater things'. Being in Lois’ shoes for a day, it gave her a sense of a realisation that her reporter days are in fact over. And you can see that Chloe has come to accept this, and that it made her realize that working at the Daily Planet is not what it once used to be.
This whole story arc is going to do wonders for the show, and I don’t know about everyone else, but I’m most definitely looking forward to seeing the Justice League being brought back. And the fact that Chloe is now involved with that makes it all the more exciting!

People can criticize Lois and many can compare Chloe and Lois, but come on! Smallville is practically on the path of Superman territory. Lois is destined to be the reporter at the Daily Planet WITH Clark. It’s written in the books. I think a lot of the Chlark fans just can’t accept that.

Oh, and I LOVED Clois in this episode, and the ending scene between them was really well written! I’m glad that despite their obvious attraction to each other, the writers haven’t allowed them to get together just yet because Clark and Lois just aren’t ready yet. And the chase is the fun part!!

But I have to add that Clark was a bit over acted when his wish to be a regular guy was granted.

Nonetheless, I'd say Hex is one of my favourite episodes of the season so far, and Season 8 has been the best season yet!

What Chloe fans want is simple: return Chloe to the Daily Planet where she earned her place there years ago. Producer Brian Peterson just made clear that Not-Lois has taken Chloe's dreams and that's all kinds of wrong. WE've watched Not-Lois cheat her way into the DP when she was hired by a guy who thought she was hot then gett favored treatment because she was sleeping with him. That is something the real Lois Lane would never do.

It was Chloe who was hired for her talent and experience and by a tough editor, as well, just like the real Lois Lane in the comics. Until Chloe takes her rightful place at the Daily Planet where she belongs and her cousin pays for her cheating we will not be happy.

So, no, Hex was not what most Chloe fans wanted to see at all. I want to see Chloe take back what her lame cousin has stolen from her; Chloe deserves to have her dreams fullfilled instead of being cheated out of them by a character who's been portrayed as an uneducated bimbo.

As for Season Eight-it's been the worst yet and Clark has been depicted as a real jerk at times so no, this show is going in exactly the wrong direction.

Hummm. That wasn't Chlois and as a Chloe fan I'm not happy at all. Are you saying that watching your favorite character jealous of fake!Barbie is fun? It isn't. I don't hate 'Watchtower' but I want Chloe back as a reporter and I hated Clark Kent in this episode.

And no, I don't want Clois at all. Stop changing and lightswitching the show we love (or used to).

This is the direction that Smallville fans have been waiting for the show to take for three seasons now. As long as the writers don't just drop the "Watchtower" like they've dropped every other conversation where Oliver and Clark talk about establishing a real team, then Smallville has finally found the ground that it has been losing for the past few years. The last minute of "Hex" is the future of the franchise; if done right. This is what we want CW; great job! Keep it up!!

For future reference, Chlois fans want what Chloe herself has wanted since she was eight years old- for her to embrace her destiny as a reporter for the Daily Planet. Watchtower is okay for now, because heroes often have a crisis of faith, and Chloe has a long way to go. But Chloe is a reporter, they've told me that from the very beginning of the story, and this Chloe fan won't accept any other fate for her.

And this Smallville fan does NOT yearn for more Clois. I'm glad in this episode, Lois seemed to be over her ridiculous and sudden attraction.

You guys really don't know what Chlois means, do you? It means that Chloe is the REAL Lois Lane of the series - that people reject Erica Durance's character and substitute whom they find to be a much better version instead.

Watchtower is not a whee; Chloe the reporter is whom we fell for and this ep was "suck it! Who cares if Lex fired her, she's never going back!" For the girl whose 7 year goal was exposing the truth, being hero support just isn't a satisfying end point.

Though for a show that is going to kill people off in the near future, Watchtower says Chloe won't die; whereas EDlois is really quickly burning through her plots.

I loved "Hex"! Awesome episode. Clois is made of win! Keep the Clois coming SV.
