CW Stars Up for Multiple Teen Choice Nominations

Eonline reports that Gossip Girl received a whopping 14 Teen Choice nominations, including Best Drama, Best Breakout Show, and Choice TV Actor/Actress.

It's true that GG is everywhere on the list of nominations. All three female leads (Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, and Taylor Momsen) are up for Best Breakout Female Star, and we were especially excited to see Ed Westwick's Chuck Bass nominated for Choice TV Villain along with Smallville's Michael Rosenbaum. But One Tree Hill also earned its fair share of nominations, including Choice TV Drama, Hilarie Burton and Sophia Bush for Choice TV Actress and Chad Michael Murray for Choice TV Actor. Our complaint: where are James Lafferty and Bethany Joy Galeotti? They deserve some noms, too!

Other shows represented include America's Next Top Model (Cycle 10 winner Whitney is up for Choice TV Female Reality Star, Tyra is up for Choice TV Personality, and the show itself is in the running for Choice TV: Reality Beauty and Makeover), Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious (for Reality Music Competition), and Smallville (Choice TV Show Action/Adventure, Choice TV Actor/Actress Action/Adventure for Tom Welling and Kristin Kreuk). Even Beauty and The Geek made the list with a nomination for Choice TV: Reality Beauty & Makeover.

Notably absent from the list: Supernatural and Reaper. And what about Everybody Hates Chris, Aliens in America, Girlfriends, and The Game? We think these shows were seriously overlooked -- do you agree?

Let us know what you think of the nominations in the comments!

Beauty and the Geek Hits the Road

Beauty and the Geek wraps up with a human scavenger hunt, as the two final teams scamper across LA trying to find their friends and compatriots. But first, we had to get through a whole bunch of catfighting drama. Sigh. When did this become just another reality show?

First, of course, they had to whittle the final three down to the final two. The three remaining couples play a BATG version of the Newlywed Game where they had to prove they knew their partners. Chris and Cara are the first team to get three correct answers, so they're in. In the tiebreaker, Tommy and Amanda beat Matt and Leticia. Tommy actually gets weepy - he doesn't want to be responsible for bouncing anyone out. Awww.

We have to admit, we're a bit bummed out that Matt and Leticia didn't make it all the way. They seemed to have a genuine bond, and both halves of the team pulled their weight. At least we can take comfort in the fact that both of them feel like they got a lot out of the experience.

The next day, the final competitors get a surprise: All the eliminated players are back for a party.

Beauty and the Geek Recap: The Fixer Uppers

Beauty and the Geek: Plumbing and Primping

We're coming to the end of Beauty and the Geek, and the challenges are getting tougher. The producers seem to revel in putting the Beauties through their paces by exposing them to disgusting or smelly messes, and the Geeks keep getting pushed out of their comfort zone to deal with fashion.

Let's start with the Geeks. The guys were told they were gong to style and shoot models -- and Tommy immediately starts wishing for Amber. Tommy, Tommy, Tommy.... We know Amber made an impression on you, and she wasn't difficult to look at, but she was a nasty person and she basically said she'd want nothing to do with the geeks. Give it up.

The models were four geeky girls who needed to be restyled. Think scraggly hair, glasses, baggy clothing... but like Nicole from last season, they all had the potential to be knockouts. Matt immediately ignores Leticia's instructions and puts his model in capri pants, which makes her look shorter, but he does oversee a fabulous new haircut. Joe goes off the rails by dressing his model in multiple layers -- cute, but more suited to the 1950s, and not something the Beauties would pick as a fashionable outfit.

Beauty and the Geek Recap: Snowbound

The beauties and geeks headed to Big Bear for some fun -- and drama -- in the snow. Between building sleds and building walls of pillows to ensure no bodily contact, Tara and Joe clashed, but it was ultimately Jason and Kristina who were sent home. Jason C. has the recap!

Beauty and the Geek: Fun in the Snow

The remaining competitors scampered off to Big Bear on Beauty and the Geek, and it wasn't just the snow that was flying. It was all about the fights, potential flings and occasional hissyfits as the Beauties start making their moves on their chosen Geeks. It's not pretty.

Tara and Joe get a bit of a tepid welcome when they return from elimination -- "As a team, they're just Debbie Downers," says Kristina. Cowboy Joe takes the opportunity to make a speech, shockingly enough. But the remaining teams don't have much time to think about it, because Mike announces they're heading to Big Bear for some snowy fun. Everyone is excited (trust us -- there was a montage of people saying "excited!"), except Chris, who thinks it's just going to be the same stuff they're doing in the mansion, but with the potential for frostbite.

Beauty and the Geek: One More Makeover

Ah, the clip show. Why do so many reality shows hit us with an hour of recap and previously unseen, marginally interesting footage right when things are getting good? At least Beauty and the Geek tried to make things interesting by throwing in an extra makeover -- who knew what Jim was hiding under all that hair!

We were amazed at our first sight of Jim -- he’d already trimmed the beard and had shorter hair, so he looked less likely to be consumed by his own hair. We initially groaned a bit when the stylist said she was going to give him a bit of a fauxhawk -- why does every third man seem to get a fauxhawk these days? -- but the end reveal really showed that the stylist knew what she was doing. Jim is HOT! We were disappointed when Jim and Tiffany left. Tiffany struck us as a genuine person, and we loved Jim’s dry and deadpan sense of humor. Now he’s got an external image that matches up with inner cool. Go, Jim!

As an added benefit, Tiffany gave him a sweet leather pocket protector with flames on it. Nice!

Other than the Jim reveal, we don’t really learn much new in the extra-special BATG special presentation. The highlights:

Beauty and the Geek: Yuck!

It was a battle of the odious this week on Beauty and the Geek, with two people fighting for the title of Most Repugnant. Hey guys? See those cameras? They're watching you all the time.

Things went horribly awry in the first five minutes. The mansion makes spooky noises, and some of the Beauties contend it's haunted (we imagine with the shades of murdered dignity). Tara is apparently the most prone to ghost sightings, so everyone else in the house decides to have some fun. They dress Tommy up as a vampire (complete with drawn-on widow's peak) and send him in to scare her. Cowboy Joe decides to guard the door and protect his Beauty from a (in our view, harmless) practical joke, and feathers start to fly. Randi gets nasty, as is her wont -- you're not her man! You can't protect her! You're pathetic! She bugs the crap out of us.

That does not, of course, excuse what Joe does next -- he spits at Randi. Seriously? Spitting?

But here's the thing -- even after that completely unacceptable action, Randi STILL comes out looking worse.

Beauty and The Geek Recap: Makeover Madness!

It was makeover madness last week on Beauty and The Geek! The guys got styled in fitted tops, jeans, and blazers, while the women dressed down in dorkier clothes to show their support. And when they reenacted dramatic scenes, the drama was real -- Matt got his first kiss! Check out Jason C.'s recap.

Beauty and the Geek: Makeovers and Love Scenes!

Oooh, makeover week! We love the geek makeovers -- they tend to give the guys so much more confidence, break them out of their rut, show them possibilities they thought were closed to them. Just about every geek shone... except one.

We think the Geeks turned out great. Standouts: Greggie, who got a HUGE confidence boost and now looks a bit like a Fallout Boy groupie. It works for him, but was he wearing those red shades over his regular glasses? Tommy looks completely delectable with his softened-up hair and his new (non-vest) sweaters. Matt has got a bit of a fauxhawk and he looks like he's walking on air. And Joe looks so much better -- there was a face under that scruff!

But Cowboy Joe isn't happy that they took the Cowboy away. We're not surprised -- he had a temper tantrum before the makeover (throwing clothing?), and he mopes through the reveal. I feel like a sell-out, a fraud! This isn't ME!

Joe, if you're reading this (and we suspect you are), here's what we find frustrating:

Beauty and the Geek Recap: Lovelorn Science

Now that the beauties and geeks are paired up, our show has its heart back! But that doesn't mean there are no awkward moments... far from it. Last week, the beauties squirmed at the science fair while the geeks struggled to offer love and sex advice under the watchful eye of Dr. Drew. Jason C. has the recap!

Beauty and the Geek: Science and Sex

Beauty and the Geek goes back to its comfortable old routine, and we’re much happier with it. But we have to wonder – would you take sex advice from any of those Geeks? And would you ask for a science lesson from any of those Beauties? Because we sure wouldn’t!

But first, there was some unfinished business – Tara had to choose the last Geek to remain in the house. She went with Cowboy Joe, and we’re kind of torn. He just bugs us! He’s too talky, too cocky, and too into himself. We wonder if he’s really willing to learn from Tara – or anyone.

On the other hand… Jonathan didn’t do himself any favors when he announced that he was looking forward to seeing his mother again. Dude, that just adds to the Norman Bates vibe you give off. But we have to admit, we’re a bit disappointed that he got kicked off before the makeover episode – we have a feeling that Jonathan would have come out looking pretty good.

This week, the Beauties had to compete in a science fair using the popular favorites of volcanoes, earthquakes and solar power.

Beauty and The Geek Recap: It's Game Time

Beauty and the Geek Breaks Some Bones

First, the good news: Beauty and the Geek returns to its regular format this week, with Beauties and Geeks pairing up to take on the world. Whew – the Beauties vs. Geeks format had some high points, but we felt it messed with the premise of the show too much. We’re glad they’re going back to their roots.

Now, the bad news: The show decided to leave us with a superfluous cliffhanger, which annoys us to no end. The show already has plenty of drama – why manufacture fake drama with the “to be continued…” ending?

But first, the challenge. One member of each team had to go over to the enemy camp – where they discovered if their adopted team lost, they’d be out. This took Chris and Jillian aback, and made the Geeks really sad that one of their more effective members had gone to the other side. Jillian? She seems sweet, but wasn’t much of an asset. Even perpetually sunny Greggie couldn’t think of anything positive to say about her.

Beauty and the Geek Recap: Talent Show

The beauties may not have been so talented onstage, but they were VERY talented manipulators after the show was over -- some, more than others. Some beauties tried to seduce the geeks into keeping them in the house, but they weren't fooled. Get the full recap from Jason C.!

Beauty and the Geek: Ding Dong, The Witch Is Gone

Boy, this was an uncomfortable episode of Beauty and the Geek. The beauties learned that there’s more to talent than being pretty, and we learned that some people never know when to shut up. And although it’s only the second week, we were thrilled to see what may have been the most deserved elimination in the history of the show. Even CeCe was never this bad!

The talent show just made us cringe – first off, 10 minutes is a long, long time for anyone to be on stage. And that 10 minutes can seem like eternity when you’ve got a bunch of self-confessed talent-free beauties who have no clue what they’re doing. The “sexy” dance started off mildly amusing, then got boring, then got downright tortuous. In the end, the beauties were booed off the stage.

The geeks, however, kicked butt – each one of them got a moment in the spotlight, and everyone looked like they were having a great time. We loved the way Matt mocked himself with the long. Long poetry scroll, and were amazed at Jason’s completely ripped physique. Mike told us about that in the interview yesterday, but we didn’t believe him. Wow! And Tommy’s standup just confirms that he’s the least geeky geek we’ve ever seen on the show.

When the beauties learned they’d lost and they’d be up for elimination, all hell broke loose.
